GOLBASI GUEST HOUSE
This is a conceptual renovation project located in GOLBASI area near Ankara in Turkey. The existing building is located in a lot that edges the GOLBASI lake.
The design process starts with a spatial study of volumes in order to create interior spaces that ultimately engage with the views of the lake as well as to understand and take advantage of the environmental factors that affect the building while fully responding to the given program for a guest house.
There are two separate design methodologies that have been created in order to refine the given program and create an in depth design response: MACRO and MICRO
With the MACRO, the design separates the office and leisure space at upper and lower floors and organizes the circulation elements around two axis while keeping a fully OPEN PLAN. An interior partition device of mullions has been designed around the office spaces to act as a shading device as well as create a semi private environment within the context of the overall layout.
The MICRO, is a furniture system that is built of from a single module that can be modulated to serve several uses such as a parti wall or bookcases or office desk units. This ultimately helps define various spaces in the Guest house while maintaining an open plan identity.
