WEST STILES PROTOTYPE PASSIVE HOUSE
This Prototype Passive House, also named as THE CORE was designed following the principal guidelines of PHPP
Located in Philadelphia, PA on West Stiles Street, to the west of Schyulkill River, the house replicates the traditional American row housing; wood studs framing with parti wall while also incorporating contemporary ventilation systems and detailing techniques in order to get a better control over the indoor air quality and meet the energy requirements set by the Passive House protocol.
The principal concept THE CORE suggest a utilitarian approach where all the building systems(mechanical, plumbing, structural bracing and circulation) are located in the center of each unit. The core structure is then surrounded by skylight openings on each side creating light shafts that illuminate the central circulation spaces and help maintain the energy requirements for PHPP.
