WWF CENTER
This is a conceptual renovation project of an existing warehouse space located in a rural area of Ankara, Turkey. The given program is creating an incubator office space for the Ankara branch of World Wildlife Fund.
Two major tectonic elements define the design characteristics; the entry pergola and the mezzanine floor:
The Entry Pergola is added as an element both to redefine the existing courtyard and also act as a shading device for the common public space at the entry hall and the conference room.
The proposed facade suggests a full height curtain wall in order to maximize the interior relationship with the emerging landscape. The facade is fragmented by equally spaced vertical shear walls which also act as the major structural element of design.
The central section of the building is dedicated to a gallery space on the ground floor. Above crosses a suspended bridge that connects offices to a meeting room. The left wing of the building is composed of a conference room on the ground floor and offices on the second floor, while the right wing is composed of socializing spaces on the ground floor with a full height, double floor internal structure of research laboratories in the center.
